TraveloBikes LLC takes your privacy seriously. This website exists to share cycling routes and travel inspiration, not to collect more data than we actually need. We gather the absolute minimum required to keep the site running, answer your messages, and occasionally send a short newsletter if you explicitly ask for it. Everything below is written in plain English because nobody enjoys reading legal jargon on a bike-trip website.
Information we collect and why
When you simply browse the site we collect the usual anonymous stuff that every website sees: IP address, browser type, which pages you visit, and approximate location (country or region level only). This is handled by our hosting provider and basic analytics tool so we can see if people actually read the routes or bounce immediately – it helps us make better content.
When you fill in the contact form or subscribe to updates we collect your name and email address. That’s it. We need the name so the reply doesn’t start with “Hey you” and the email address so we can actually reply or send the rare newsletter.
If you ever purchase something (custom route, digital guide, etc.) we will also see the payment information, but that part is processed entirely by Stripe or PayPal on their secure pages – we never see or store full card numbers.
Cookies and similar things
Yes, we use a few cookies. A functional one so the site remembers your preferred language and light/dark mode, an analytics cookie (plausible.io – privacy-friendly, no personal data, no cross-site tracking), and that’s literally all. You can turn them off in your browser and the site will still work perfectly.
How we use the information
The browsing data helps us understand which parts of the site are useful and which need improvement. Contact form submissions are used only to answer your message and, if you agree, to occasionally send very short updates about new routes or important corrections to existing ones (usually 4–6 emails per year). We never sell, rent, or give your data to third parties for marketing purposes.
Data storage and protection
Everything is stored on encrypted servers in the European Union and the United States. Emails and backups are encrypted too. Access is limited to the few team members who actually need it. We keep contact form messages for up to two years in case you write again about the same trip, then they are automatically deleted. Newsletter subscriptions can be deleted instantly with one click at the bottom of any email.
Your rights
You can ask to see every single piece of data we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it completely. Just write to [email protected] and we’ll handle it within a few days (usually the same day unless we’re in the middle of nowhere with no signal). You can also unsubscribe from any mailing list instantly.
Children
The site is not directed at anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change anything important we will put a visible notice on the homepage and update the date below. Small clarifications may happen without announcement.
